World Series SuperstarsAdmittedly, you could have seen this one coming from a mile away. EA has launched its fourth sports game on Facebook, World Series Superstars, a pro baseball social game, Gamasutra reports. And according to CNBC, it's the company's first baseball game in six years thanks to Take Two Interactive owning the rights to MLB-based games since 2005. However, that agreement did not cover Facebook games, and how could it have? The genre has only been around for three years at most. Very sneaky, EA.

Regardless, the game was developed by the company's social gaming arm, Playfish, as was Madden NFL Superstars and FIFA Superstars before it, which are home to 1.5 million and 3.5 million monthly players respectively, according to Gamasutra. World Series Superstars allows players to create their own dream team and compete in a single-player league as well as with their Facebook friends. Through successful games, players can increase their team's strengths and deck out their stadiums. And considering everyone is just about back from Clearwater at this point, EA could not have better timing.

Have you tried World Series Superstars on Facebook yet? How do you think this game will fare compared to previous sports games on Facebook? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
