Global Monopoly Day
Forget Friday or even Hump Day. The best day of your life is about to happen ... tomorrow. Alright, so that's a bit of a stretch, but what EA and Hasbro have planned is super cool nonetheless. Both EA and Hasbro have announced that tomorrow, April 7, will be known as Global Monopoly Day. (Does this mean we get a day off work to play Monopoly? No? Dammit!) The event is to set a Guinness World Record with EA and Playfish's brand new Facebook game: Monopoly Millionaires. The goal? To set the record for the highest amount of people simultaneously playing the game. Oh, and they're throwing in chances to win from over $20 thousand in prizes for tomorrow's lucky players.

So, what's Hasbro doing here? Well, Hasbro has been producing the board game since it bought Parker Brothers, its original creator, in the early 1990s. You could say that the company has a vested interest in how high EA and Playfish set the record. Official Guinness adjudicators will monitor the game from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. tomorrow to make it all, you know, official.

What makes things even more official is the $5 thousand in cash prizes up for grabs joined by $5 thousand in Visa gift cards, Apple products and more. To enter the contest, just play the game tomorrow and you'll be entered automatically. (You can also RSVP for the event right here.) To meet fellow Monopoly fans in person, EA has organized meetups all over the globe for you thimble-pushers to enjoy. Now, don't worry: Getting in jail won't disqualify you from a chance at prizes, but it's still annoying.

Will you be participating in setting the record tomorrow? What do you hope to win most from the contest? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
