The heart-breaking announcement that was the closure of long-standing developer Bizarre Creations last week is reportedly taking a turn for the better already as former Bizarre design lead Gareth Wilson has now assumed a new position at UK-based Sumo Digital as chief games designer.

Wilson, who worked as the lead designer for both the Project Gotham Racing series as well as Blur, will now be working for the studio behind Sega All-Stars Racing, Outrun Online Arcade, F1 2009 Wii and ironically enough, Split/Second: High Voltage, a franchise which fought head-to-head against Blur last year.

Uplifting news indeed. Here’s hoping the rest of Bizarre’s staff meets equal fortunes.
